Shipping Your Device to PCS Data Recovery
Your data is important — and so is the safe arrival of your device. To ensure your device arrives safely and intact, please follow these data recovery shipping instructions.
1. Prepare Your Device for Safe Transit
Hard drives and other storage media are delicate and easily damaged in transit. To protect your device:
-
Do not ship it in a standard envelope or padded mailer — this offers minimal protection.
-
Wrap your device in at least 1–2 inches of bubble wrap on all sides.
-
Place the wrapped device inside a sturdy, appropriately sized cardboard box. A snug fit is best to prevent the drive from moving around during shipping.
-
If using a recycled box, please remove or fully cover any old labels, barcodes, or markings.
2. Include Your Contact Information
Every package must include a printed copy of our printable Service Request Form or, if you can’t print it, just submit the online Service Request and include a handwritten note with:
-
Your full name
-
Return shipping address
-
Email address
-
Phone number
This information ensures we can quickly identify your case upon arrival.
3. After Your Device Arrives
Once we receive your shipment:
-
We’ll send a confirmation email to let you know we’ve received it.
-
We will begin evaluating the device.
-
You will receive a call back withing 24-48 hours with the results of the evaluation where we will let you know the probability of recovery, the time it may take to complete the work as well as the cost.
-
Once you approve the recovery, work will begin and you will receive an invoice by text or email once the job is complete.
-
If for some reason we couldn’t recover the data (Such as if the platters in the drive are damaged or if the memory chip is cracked or damaged internally), you will not be charged for any labor.
